In the world of business-to-business (B2B) transactions, a new company is poised to make waves with its innovative approach to hardware sales. Berlin-based startup Topi, which launched out of stealth last December with $4.5 million in funding, has been making strides in developing a platform that allows businesses to pay for equipment in installments through rentals and subscriptions.
A New Era in B2B Transactions
Traditionally, companies have had to pay thousands of dollars upfront for essential hardware, leaving them with limited capital for other business needs. Topi’s platform seeks to change this by providing a more flexible and affordable alternative. With Topi, businesses can subscribe to the hardware they need, paying only for what they use.
Partnership with Gravis: A Key Milestone
One of the most significant milestones for Topi has been its partnership with Gravis, an Apple-authorized reseller with 40 physical outlets in Germany and a strong online presence. Gravis was instrumental in helping Topi iterate its product through its pilot phase, with around half of their customers who rented hardware through Topi coming back for additional products.
Sustainability at the Core
While Topi’s platform is focused on improving access to hardware and reducing cash flow challenges, sustainability is a core underlying selling point. According to Paula, co-founder of Topi, "In light of climate change, being sustainable is increasingly important for companies." The company aims to give used devices a second life or properly recycle them, eliminating the need for a drawer full of old devices.
Funding Round: A Boost for Topi
Topi’s funding round, which consisted of $15 million in equity and $30 million in debt, has been a significant boost for the company. Backers include Index Ventures, Creandum, TriplePoint Capital, and undisclosed angel investors.
The Future of B2B Transactions
With its innovative approach to hardware sales and focus on sustainability, Topi is poised to revolutionize the world of B2B transactions. As the company continues to grow and develop its platform, it will be exciting to see how it disrupts the traditional hardware sales model.
